As I’ve previously mentioned, I am looooving everything tribal. When I first saw Shea Marie’s dream catcher necklace on her blog Cheyenne Meets Chanel, I fell hard. Where could I get my hands on something like that? I had seen feather necklaces in stores, but nothing like the necklace she was wearing. It was then I thought back to when I was about eight years old and made the dream catcher that, to this day, hangs above my bed. If I could make a dream catcher when I was eight, surely I could at least attempt to make one now. I suddenly became extremely determined to make this work. When I finally found some free time, I headed to A.C. Moore and bought all the necessary supplies. As soon as I got back from the crafts store I threw all of the materials onto my bed and got to work. I figured that people may be interested in making their own dream catcher necklaces, so I decided to take pictures and list step-by-step directions. Overall, this was a fun project and I can’t wait for my next arts and crafts adventure! If you have any further questions on how to make this necklace, please feel free to leave a comment or e-mail me at lex.dangelo@gmail.com. Enjoy :)

What you’ll need :
-metal ring
-black suede cord (fabric, ribbon, or leather will work as well)
-white linen cord or sinew (approx. 1 yard)
-feathers
-beads
-glue
-scissors
-paper clip
Take your suede cord and begin to wrap it in tight coils around the metal ring. Be sure to leave about an incb of suede at the top so you can tie a knot later. After you have made some progress, take a paper clip to hold one of the loose ends. Continue to tightly wrap the the suede around the ring. When you have finally wrapped the suede all the way around the ring, tie both ends together in a double knot.
Take the white linen cord and tie a double knot at the top of the ring as close to the suede knot as possible. Take the linen and place the string over the ring on the right side at about 2 o’clock. Then put the linen under the hoop, making sure it crosses the front part of the linen when you draw it up and through toward your body. Continue doing this in even increments until you’re at your second to last stitch. Instead of doing your last stitch over the ring, take your linen and perform the same stitch over the very first loop you created.
Continue to do this stitch on each of the new loops until you get to the second to last stitch again. Then start the stitch on the first loop of the newest row. Continue this method until you reach the innermost circle. Before completing your last circle, place a bead on your first stitch. Continue your stitches all the way around until the dream catcher is completed. Tie it off with a double knot.
Now it’s time to add the suede string for the necklace. Taking the suede pieces at the top of your dream catcher, tie a knot leaving about a centimeter of space from the ring base. Take your desired length of suede and loop it through the small hole you have just created. You have the option to simply tie a knot at your desired length, or you can make your necklace length adjustable. To do the latter, take one of the string ends and tie a knot over the other string.
Using the same string that you made the knot with, continue to make the same knot over the other string. Make about three of these knots. You will see that you will be able to adjust the length of your necklace by pulling on the string that is underneath the knots. Afterwards, add decorations to your dream catcher. Tie additional pieces of suede onto the ring and string on beads. Make knots in the end of the loose strings and add feathers. Be sure to put some glue onto the feathers and then stick them underneath the knot.
Congratulations! You are now the proud owner of a very beautiful and trendy dream catcher necklace. Wear it with pride!
P.S. >> if you would like to purchase this necklace, I am selling it on my etsy site. i can also customize it to your liking! check this, and my other designs out here! <<

I would like to know if I can link like this to you, including a photo, in the future. Or if you would be willing to allow me to post projects in full on the site – full credit will always be given to you, of course. Your projects have the opportunity to be featured in our newsletter as well. It would be yet another source of traffic to your blog.
Please let me know, I would love to work with you further.
