Japan Disaster Relief

In the wake of the tragic Tohoku earthquake and tsunami, many are stepping up to aid relief efforts. Numerous kind donations have been made and countless organizations are doing the best they can to gather supplies and raise money that will go towards Japan’s recovery. In times of great disaster it is difficult to conceive how a single person can make a difference. However, I believe that each small act truly does matter, for when put together they can and do amount to something unbelievably significant. I am therefore urging everyone reading this post to attempt to make the slightest effort in helping those in an extremely unfortunate and dire situation.

One way to contribute to this cause, while also receiving something to show your support, is by purchasing various items in which profits will go towards aiding relief efforts. American fashion designer and philanthropist, Tory Burch, has designed fashionable “Japan Relief T-Shirts” for $29, with 100% of the profits going to the American Red Cross.

Pop singer-songwriter and fashion icon (or so she prides herself), Lady Gaga, has produced “We Pray For Japan” wristbands for $5, with the option of also giving an additional donation. All of the proceeds from the wristbands sales will go directly to Japan relief efforts.

American jewelry designer, Alexis Bittar, is donating 100% of all sales on alexisbittar.com to Catholic relief services to assist the recovery in Japan. But be sure to act fast–this offer ends today!

If you’re in need of a red hand bag, then I suggest you make your purchase at Rebecca Minkoff. $100 from the sale of each red bag will be donated to the Red Cross.

And last, but certainly not least, our beloved Charlie Sheen is still attempting to make some magic happen. Sheen has decided to donate $1 from every ticket sale to his upcoming live performances of ‘My Violent Torpedo of Truth/Defeat is Not An Option Show’ to the Red Cross Japanese Earthquake Relief Fund. >> read more about this show here <<

Aside from the methods listed above, there are many other ways we can aid Japan. The Huffington Post’s article ‘How To Help Japan: Earthquake Relief Options‘ details ways in which people can play an active role in making a difference. Please take five minutes out of your day by clicking any of the above links and make it your priority to help in whatever way you can!
